Here we are again in another month. This time it's autumn and the leaves are falling from the trees. The colours are changing around us. The mornings are darker and the long days of summer appear to be behind us. It's the time of year I have a love/hate relationship with. On the one hand I love cosy evenings in, the smell and taste of autumn: pumpkin spice, sweet potato soup, hearty curries and mulled wine. On the other hand, I feel a wave of sadness for the colder days and having to wear shoes...

Hello November and welcome to my Blog, It's officially the penultimate month of, what has felt like, the fastest passing year of my life. November is a month with lots of reasons to celebrate. Today I want to talk about running in pregnancy and share my personal experience, which has been very different in my current pregnancy (I'm 23 weeks today) compared to my first one. If you're a runner and recently found out you're pregnant you're possibly searching for reliable information to help answer your questions about whether you can keep going, what are the benefits and risks? This was my initial reaction when I was pregnant for the first time but I did not find any answers to my...

I've been running for 15 years and I still can't believe I only joined my first park run this weekend. For those unfamiliar with a park run I should probably elaborate. Parkrun UK organise free, weekly 5km timed runs that are open to everyone, free and easy to take part. I've seen many pictures on Facebook of friends participating but in all honestly up until I fell pregnant earlier this year, I didn't think Parkrun was for me. You might call me a selfish runner! I like to get out on my own and...

Today I am taking myself back to basics, reflecting on the 14 years I've been running, how I got started and what I believe as a (non professional) marathon runner, are the key things for getting started. I instinctively did some of these things below and others I learned through my own mistakes and from reading about running and speaking to other runners. I'm not a professional trainer and speak from my own experience so please seek advice if you've never exercised before. I've had so many...

Hello everyone, I hope you all had an amazing New Year and you're ready for an exciting 2018. I've started longer runs for marathon training now, so I thought I'd share how I fuel my body before and after running. If you've been around for a while you will know that food is my thing and this is a crucial part of marathon training because it provides the energy needed to run and recover effectively afterwards, so that you can run frequent long distances. At the moment I am doing a 10 mile run,...
